Hi, I wonder if you could help. I need a new shower. I have spent hours online reading about different kinds of showers and how they work and I have decided that, due to my current system, my new shower needs to be electric. The trouble is I can’t find any decent looking ones. They all seem to consist of a rather ugly plastic box with a basic hose and head on a rail. Then I see the Trueshopping tower shower on your list, I’d love it but it’s not electric, why list it? Can you somehow use it with an electric shower? Also, is it possible to replace the hose and head on electric showers to something more attractive and luxurious as in the digital/mixer/thermostatic variety? I also did search a lot before I decided to use an electric shower two years ago. I have to admit that those designs look a bit poor with the plastic cover but there are no other options mainly because of safety reasons. However, the mentioned showers still look way better than the one I’ve got. Triton Collection seems to be more modern and elegant for the bathroom. You definitely can replace the hose and shower head if you want to. The Trueshopping tower shower is not the electric one. Thank you for pointing it out. I will update the post soon.
Looking to replace an ancient Triton Ivory shower which has suddenly decided to run boiling hot on its ~~ setting even when it’s only on a low number 2 heat setting. Thinking of replacing with a other Triton and very happy to see them on your list. Mira is also a consideration now. As I dont wish to replace my 6mm cable. I am looking for a powerful shower up to 9.5kw and hoped that your reviews would include water flow delivery but sadly didn’t see that within the reviews. You can’t run a 9.5kW shower on a 6mm cable. Period. Such a shower could take up to 40A at the maximum permitted supply voltage. Depending on how and where the cable is installed (i.e. if it happens to be surrounded by thermal insulation) it could be rated as low as 23.5A. This means that it will overheat and the resulting damage to its insulation will lead to the risk of fire.
Under less extreme conditions, the minimum cable size should be 10mm and under worst-case conditions 16mm would be needed.
Find a good electrician who can work through the complications.

I have at present a California Redring shower which is pathetic. I was considering having plumbing done for a shower to work straight off the boiler. Do you think if I replaced existing one with one of the recommended showers here I would get a better ie, more powerful shower? I recently had a new bathroom installed and went for another electric shower – Triton Aspirante. This is rubbish and flow very poor, trickles out. I now have to go to the expense of buying another one. Am thinking Mira Sport Max but this is a lot more expensive than the others. My water pressure in the house is fine. Do you think the water flow will be better with this shower? The other consideration is the Triton Seville which is much cheaper but am a bit put off with Triton

I have seen one which is identical with the same model number T90xr (pumped electric) but states it’s ‘tank fed’.
Is this the same unit or is there a difference? I thought the ‘pumped’ versions meant a tank was not needed?

I have a Mira sports shower and it is a nightmare. It has three settings: low, eco and high. On low and eco the temperature of the water fluctuates between freezing and scalding making it either unpleasant or dangerous to use. On eco the temperature is stable but you have to wave the head around to get it to flow. At all. Once it starts it is feeble but not fatal. I can’t understand why you recommend.
Mira sport max – lasted exactly 2 years and 1 month from installing to packing up ( suddenly stopped heating up reliably so now veers from ice cold to lukewarm every 30 seconds)
Warranty obviously out so cost me £10 per month and I now have to replace it. Forget Mira – I won’t be buying another of their showers

The cable is 6mm so I’m presuming I need to stay within 8-8.5Kw range? do you have any recommendations in this range. We don’t want to upgrade the wiring to 10mm as we are wanting to move in the new year, but I can’t wait until then for a shower!!

This review is really helpful, but doesn’t cover the life expectancy of any of the showers? We currently have a Mira shower which replaced another Mira 4 years ago. Unfortunately, we have found the power button breaks quite often. We have replaced the power button 6 times so far in four years so I’m looking for a shower that doesn’t suffer this issue. Any recommendations?
